The Columbus Metro Railway Society moved into its new home at the Fran Ryan Center in January 2025.  They have retained the original name of their short line railroad, the Janis Junction Railway as a salute to Martin Janis, who spent his career promoting senior citizens in Ohio and establishing the "Golden Buckeye" discount card. 

They are building a new HO scale layout in the 1,200 sq ft in the Fran Ryan Center’s Model Railroad Studio.  The layout is visible through three large picture windows that will allow the public to watch the activities.

C.A.N.S. has been active in model railroading in central Ohio since the early 80s. They have an active TTrak layout we take to shows, and a long existing large NTrak layout that they are updating to return to the shows. While they do not have a fixed location, they host  monthly club dinner and an active text group, and an occasional operations session at a members' home. They are always looking for new members of all experience and engagement levels. Whether you have a home layout or are just interested in being around N scale rail modeling, you'll find their club is a low-pressure group that can be your link to the Columbus area model rail community.

The Coshocton Club started in 1972 and has been in the current 150' x 50' building in the Coshocton Co Fairgrounds since 1993.  The club has been gradually adding to the layout which features handlaid track and turnouts and hope to start on the last expansion in the fall of 2026. Every tie is hand spiked on this great HO scale layout.  The club also features an operational interlocking machine.

New members are welcome.  Meetings are normally held on Friday evenings and business meeting on first Friday of the month.

The Central Ohio S Gaugers Model Train Club was founded in 1987 in Columbus, Ohio. They specialize in the hobby of 1/64 scale (S Gauge) model railroading.  Members enjoy building, enhancing, and operating their 17-by-28-foot club layout, which features five separate train lines and is displayed at model train shows throughout the year.  Check their Club Calendar for upcoming display dates.

The COMRC has numerous layouts in various stages of development.  A new large 41 scale mile HO scale layout designed for operations is being built.  Construction started in January 2026 and the progress to date is impressive.   They also have a large O gauge layout with multiple loops just starting scenery development, a S gauge featuring the historical Fleck's Circus display, Thomas & Friends, T-TRAK, and Z scale layout.

The DCMRG has been located in the former Pennsylvania Railroad Station in Sunbury, next to the rail trail, since 2011.  The layout depicts mid-Ohio. The layout includes a small Ohio town, a farm, a large grain elevator, several industries, and a railroad yard.  Members can run equipment from any era, and it is not uncommon to see a PRR M-1a running next to a BNSF or a Frisco GP-35. Amtrak passenger trains run periodically too. The scenery is approximately 85% to 90% complete with kit-built and scratch-built buildings. Scenery and buildings are always being upgraded. The group has begun developing an operating scheme, and members are enjoying the challenge of running trains in a prototypical manner. 

The layout is open to the public, usually on the third weekend of each month, Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Sunday Noon to 4:00 pm. Check the Delaware County Preservation Parks website, or Facebook for more info.

The PRR Station is located at The Sandel Legacy Trail, just east of South Columbus Street (Sunbury Road).

The ZTNT is a large HO layout, fills a 40' x 70’ room, and features a single track main with numerous passing sidings along with several yards.  The layout features several large industries including a steel mill complex, glass plant, sand plant and 2 large coal loadouts.  A recently added a branch line serves a foundry and powerplant. 

Scenery is nearly 100% complete and features lit streets and buildings.  The layout is Digitrax DCC controlled and is signaled. The Club is in the process of expanding the layout into an additional 15' x 30' room with plans for additional under the layout staging and a large return loop to turn trains.  Additional industries, intermodal yard and scenery are being added in the expansion.  The club is housed on the second floor.
