Michael Yoakam
Muskingum Valley Central Railroad (On30)
Michael models the Muskingum Valley Central Railroad, an On30 scale narrow gauge railroad set in 1930s Maine. It is a freelanced railroad based on the Maine two-footers. It begins along the mouth of the Sheepscott River at Snippets Cove and heads west through Pendelton, Proshe and points further west with multiple industries to switch along the way. The layout features 130’ of hand laid mainline and operates point to point. It also allows for continuous loop operations. The main line passes through rolling hills and woods, follows a creek and ends at a waterfront wharf that is over 10 ft. long. The layout features 40 structures and 30 of those are scratch built. Motive power consists mostly of Forney locomotives and a small assortment of other steam and gasoline powered units. The rolling stock consists of brass and kitbashed passenger cars, laser kits and over 40 scratch-built freight cars and cabooses. The layout is an around-the-walls design with scenery over 80% complete.
Michael is also the owner of Hamm River Model Products maker of O-scale castings and HO structure kits.
